Tipperary Rural Traveller Project Traveller Primary Health Care Project is a peer led service providing key health messages in a culturally appropriate way to the Traveller Community.
The programme focuses on health promotion in areas such as cardiovascular health, cancer awareness, mental health and healthy lifestyle choices. It is delivered by Primary Health Care Workers recruited from the Traveller community. The involvement of the Travellers in the delivery of health services is crucial in bridging the gap between the Traveller community and access to health services.
Target Group: All members of the Traveller Community
Geographic remit: Tipperary Town and environs ; Cashel Town and environs; some areas around Cahir; and other rural locations such as New Inn and Golden.
