Templemore youth project, Youth Work Ireland Tipperary
Youth Work Ireland Tipperary (YWIT) adopts a rights-based, youth-led approach to foster learning, innovation, hope and high expectations in young people, their families and their community. Its methods of engagement with young people include group work, individual supports, drop in and outreach work.
The Templemore Youth Project, part of Youth Work Ireland Tipperary’s U.B.U programme, provides vital out-of-school supports to young people aged 10-24 in the Templemore area. Focused on community based engagement, the project offers a wide range of activities tailored to the needs and interests of young people, including arts and crafts, cooking, drama , outdoor pursuits, health and fitness and advocacy on global and local issues.
Delivered in a supportive and informal learning environment, these programmes aim to strengthen communication, teamwork, self-confidence, mental health and interpersonal skills. The project also offers one-to-one support, youth café, homework assistance, and specialised clubs for young people with Down’s Syndrome, Autism, and Dyspraxia. Referrals are accepted from agencies, parents, or directly from young people.
