Silver Arch FRC run two community preschools in the rural areas of Portroe and Templederry, and receives funding via POBAL to do so. The Preschool is for children between the ages 2 years & 8 months to five years. The school year runs from September to June, and operates the Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme (ECCE). This scheme provides free early childhood care and education for children of preschool age. From September 2018, children are eligible for two years ECCE scheme if they are aged over 3 years and not older than 5 and a half years. Other schemes are also available based on eligibility. Child development and wellbeing are the foundation of the ethos of our preschools. The curriculum is child-centred and focuses on the individual strengths of each child. The children learn through play, where the children are given and/or choose a variety of activities and resources to explore and learn about themselves and their environment.
