Jigsaw is a primary care service for young people’s mental health, which operates on three levels: Delivering Services, Influencing Change & Strengthening Communities.

  • Delivering Services:
Jigsaw Tipperary operates free 1:1 therapeutic support, which is framed around an early intervention and strengths based approach. We work with young people around setting and achieving goals with up to 8 intervention sessions.  Young People may avail of in-person, phone or video support with one of our experienced clinicians.  Our transdisciplinary clinical team have backgrounds in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Mental Health Nursing.
  • Influencing Change: To help more young people receive the support they need, Jigsaw continues to influence government, the HSE and local authorities. Locally, our Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) informs us in terms of making us aware of what is relevant for young people’s mental health, so that in turn informs service delivery.Nationally, Jigsaw has a large research team linked with the School of Psychology in UCD that carries out research on young people, ensuring everything we do is evidence informed and also informs decision making in organisations, government, policy making and laws – anything to do with youth mental health on a national level.
  • Strengthening Communities:
Because Jigsaw is an early intervention service, we recognize that the community really is the heart of early intervention.  To ensure that people in the community can use themselves as early interveners in youth mental health, we work with communities offering information, training and support through our Skills Building and Mental Health Awareness in our Community workshops. This helps build confidence in supporting and promoting young people’s mental health.  One key message for communities is that of ‘One Good Adult’, which emphasises how supportive that can be for a young person.
  • NEART – Mental Health supports for post-primary schools.  A partnership with Jigsaw and the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) / Department of Education. The NEART initiative provides learning opportunities for students to promote mental health and wellbeing, as well as mental health webinars and e-Learning courses for parents and school staff. Further details can be found on https://jigsaw.ie/neart

Target Age Group:  12 – 25 years – anyone in this age group who is living working, studying or attending a GP in the county of Tipperary

Eligibility: Mild to moderate mental health difficulties
