A Community Based Service which works with people in active addiction and those supporting them.

Clonmel Community Based Drugs Initiative  (CBDI) is managed by Waterford & South Tipperary Community Youth Service. The project has one staff member and a team of local community volunteers. It aims to help people in active addiction to gain a deeper understanding of the harm that substance misuse is causing and how to reduce this harm. Support is offered to individuals, families or community groups. The CBDI also supports the community to name drug-related issues in the locality.

It also advises about relevant support services locally and can refer.

The service also provides information, advice and support for those engaged with or caring for a person in addiction or in recovery. The service provides multi component models of intervention like CRA (Community Reinforcement Approach) /ACRA ( Adolescent Community Reinforcement  Approach ) / CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) Cognitive Behavioural Therapybased programmes..

Eligibility: Individuals, 13 years and upwards, and families affected by substance misuse

Referral: Self-referrals, Referrals by families or other concerned parties, Referrals from other agencies.
