| Lifestart ‘The Growing Child’ Home Visiting Service is provided by Barnardos in Roscrea and surrounding areas. It is a free, voluntary home-visiting service that supports parents/guardians from pre-birth to five years. Our goal is to help you understand your child’s development, strengthen your parenting confidence, and provide practical support so your family can thrive.
Who is the service for? Lifestart ‘The Growing Child’ Home Visiting Service is available to: · Expectant parents · Parents/guardians of children from birth to five years · Families who want support, reassurance, or information about child development · Parents/guardians who prefer home-based, one-to-one guidance *You do not need a professional referral. Parents/guardians can contact us directly at any time.
What does the service offer? · Regular home visits · A trained Home Visitor will come to your home at agreed times to talk through: o Your child’s growth and developmental milestones o Bonding and play o Sleep, feeding, routines, and behaviour o Supporting learning through everyday activities · During visits, you’ll receive ‘The Growing Child’ monthly guide that explains: o What’s happening in your child’s development that month o Practical ideas for activities and play o Tips to support emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development o Practical parenting support · We can help with: o Building confidence as a parent/guardian o Understanding your child’s cues and needs o Creating positive routines o Managing common challenges o Linking you with local services when needed o A listening ear · Your Family Visitor will offer encouragement and support in a non-judgmental, friendly way. Many parents/guardians say that simply having someone to talk to makes a big difference.
How often are the visits? Home Visit frequency is tailored to your family’s needs. This may range from monthly to more frequent visits depending on the stage of development and the support you would find helpful.
Is there a cost? No. The service is completely free.
